[rock] [paper] [scissors]

2024–04

Based on the concept of sharing materials, ideas and aproaches, a book was produced intended to shuffle the Sandberg Design Department’s 1st year student’s research. Using the idea of a corpse exquisite, research is split into [rock]: material; [paper]:word / phrase / concept / quote; and [scissors]: a disruptive element and can be shuffled around to build new combinations and inspire fresh ideas.

In 1980, AIGA published a guide written by Peter Laundy and Massimo Vignelli called “Graphic Design for Non-Profit Organizations”, focusing on simple but well-established design principles, through the use of which non-profit organizations not able to afford professional design can still obtain a brand image. Taking the guide from 1980 as a starting point, the guide was reinterpreted for the year 2023. At the same time, the design theory behind the guidelines was examined and a discourse was started between graphic designers, interaction designers, psychologists, sociologists, non-designers and ourselves. An AI-generated magazine can be added to the publication and swapped out based on current relevance.

Klosterfrauen Frauenkloster

2021–2022
together with Herburg Weiland

Layout  of “Klosterfrauen Frauenkloster” by Jutta Görlich and Ulrike Rose. The book deals with women’s convents in transition, explores the current disappearance of monasteries and documents the changes both photographically and in the form of interviews with the residents. The book is conceived as a non-linear publication, thus has several tables of contents and references spread out on a 10-page cover to allow for easy flipping back and forth.

Delicate Pleasures

2024–05
In Prague, I found a  book containing love poetry from the 1940s, adressing topics of desire, yearning and heartbreak, but also describing violence from that time period. A lot of these poems contained vivid imagery and flower symbolism, so I delved deeper into researching what these flowers mean. The flowers are transfer- screenprinted onto a glass panel.
